You know that thing that looked really good to begin with - that thing that was going to convert your web visitors into actual sales, the thing that was going to reduce time on customer service / reduce refunds / chargebacks - in general make your life easier and more productive etc. etc.
Well we've tried a couple of things that maybe you were interested in doing for yourself but hadn't got round to doing or you were worried about the costs involved (excluding your own time).
1. Sitepal
Well we tried it on this very site - the idea that a talking cartoon character (well human-like I guess) might hold the visitor longer on the site than before - it looked good and a bit more interesting than normal text.
The reality is - people actually spent less time on the site - half the time. It seemed that people looking for business plans just want the nuts and bolts and weren't interested in gimmicky cartoon characters - good on them is what we say!
Again this is just a sample of one - it might work for you.
2. Exact seek
The idea being you can buy keywords for a few months for a few dollars, and they get listed on hundreds of small search engine sites and generate traffic that way.
They claim over 150 million searches per month on all of these engines - no doubt true.
The reality is....Okay admittedly not tried this ourselves - but we've now found plenty of blogs and locations where people have said nothing good about it - for example Exact seek scam - okay it ain't a scam but you know what we mean.
It wouldn't surprise us that the majority of people on these sites are people like you and us who are looking at ways of getting cheap traffic - we can't imagine many people who have there default search engine set to exact seek - can you?
